Enva, a leading provider of recycling and resource recovery solutions, is seeking a dedicated and driven Health & Safety Manager to champion a robust safety culture across our processing plants in Nottingham and Leicester. Reporting directly to the Recycling Director, this role offers a unique blend of strategic oversight and hands-on operational management.

As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing health and safety strategies that align with our corporate objectives. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, enhancing our safety systems, and leading our dedicated safety team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the adoption of best practices in health and safety standards and initiatives across multiple sites.
  • Develop, record, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to health and safety, providing insightful data and action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Provide effective leadership and management to the Health & Safety team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulations and internal standards.
  • Maintain and enhance our comprehensive health and safety management systems to meet ISO9001, 14001, and OHSAS18001 standards.
  • Investigate accidents thoroughly, leading post-incident analysis and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate responses to non-conformances, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions to address identified issues.
  • Deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs tailored to the needs of all staff levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, fostering constructive dialogue and ensuring ongoing compliance.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
  • A degree in a relevant field is preferred; membership with IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) and NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) qualifications are essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading health and safety initiatives and driving cultural change programs within organizations.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence and motivate individuals at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships effectively.
