SENCO Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SENCO to lead our provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a lovely Primary school. The ideal candidate will hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) and be committed to driving positive outcomes for students with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the school's SEND strategy and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Manage and coordinate provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs, including supporting teachers in identifying and meeting individual student needs.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for students, working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Conduct assessments, oversee interventions, and monitor the progress of students with SEND, ensuring they receive the appropriate support to achieve their full potential.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to teachers and support staff to enhance their understanding of SEN and effective classroom strategies.
  • Work closely with senior leadership and other departments to foster an inclusive school culture that meets the needs of all students.
