We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor/Assistant Manager to join our team at RSM UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Accounting Insight Advisory Group (AIA) Managers regarding the profitable running of their client portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan assignments in accordance with the firm's standard procedures and confirm arrangements with the client.
  2. Train clients on their accounts system.
  3. Brief junior staff on the client's business and the pre-assignment instructions, supervise and control the completion of work, and undertake 'on the job' training and provide feedback where necessary.
  4. Implement the firm's review and completion procedures and ensure that the client subsequently receives the final accounts, management letter, and adjustment to opening balances on a timely basis.
  5. Liaise with the client throughout the year and practice the principles of excellent client service at all times.
  6. Ensure that appropriate liaison takes place with all other departments, mainly audit and tax, and that all potential client needs are identified and serviced accordingly.
  7. Develop a detailed knowledge of the firm's specialist services, actively look for opportunities to cross-sell, and undertake special work in response to client needs where appropriate.
  8. Maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses, and fulfill any development or training requirements.
  9. Support the training and development of the staff within the AIA department.
  10. Be involved in any other administrative departmental and office issues as deemed appropriate.

Key Performance Measures

  1. Delivery of high-quality financial statements and overall service to clients.

Personal and Professional Qualities

  1. A good understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
  2. An understanding of the following accounting packages would be advantageous: Sage and Xero.
  3. Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and add value.
  4. Good organisational and time management skills.
  5. Strong accounts production skills. Previous experience of CCH Accounts Production would be desirable, but not essential.
  6. Ability to prepare corporation tax computations.
  7. Newly ACA or ACCA qualified.
