Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor/Assistant Manager to join our team at RSM UK.

Job Purpose

The Accounting Insight Advisory Group is responsible for the preparation of accounts for small to medium-sized enterprise clients. A strong understanding of UK financial reporting requirements, including FRS 102 and FRS 105, is essential. Experience of working with medical partnership accounts would be beneficial but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide support to the AIA Managers regarding the profitable running of their client portfolios.
  2. Work with a team of staff to ensure the highest possible standards of client service at all times.
  3. Take an active role in the growth of the office through the identification of opportunities and involvement in the business development process.
  4. Plan assignments in accordance with the firm's standard procedures and confirm arrangements with the client.
  5. Train clients on their accounts system.
  6. Brief junior staff on the client's business and the pre-assignment instructions, supervise and control the completion of work.
  7. Implement the firm's review and completion procedures and ensure that the client subsequently receives the final accounts, management letter, and adjustment to opening balances on a timely basis.
  8. Liaise with the client throughout the year and practice the principles of excellent client service at all times.
  9. Ensure that appropriate liaison takes place with all other departments, mainly audit and tax, and that all potential client needs are identified and serviced accordingly.
  10. Develop a detailed knowledge of the firm's specialist services, actively look for opportunities to cross-sell, and undertake special work in response to client needs where appropriate.
  11. Maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses, and fulfill any development or training requirements.
  12. Support the training and development of the staff within the AIA department.

Key Performance Measures

  1. Delivery of high-quality financial statements and overall service to clients.
  2. Dealing with urgent tasks at short notice when required.

Personal and Professional Qualities

  1. A good understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
  2. An understanding of accounting packages, including Sage and Xero.
  3. Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and add value.
  4. Good organisational and time management skills.
  5. Strong accounts production skills.
  6. Ability to prepare corporation tax computations.
  7. Newly qualified as ACA or ACCA.
