About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist to join our team at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. As a Consultant Otologist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our ENT department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a comprehensive service in Ear, Nose and Throat department, working closely with Consultant and Senior colleagues.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department, providing telephone advice and support for major incidents.
  • Provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues during periods of leave, ensuring continuity of patient care.
  • Contribute to medical audit and research, ensuring the highest standards of clinical governance.
  • Ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff to contact you when necessary, maintaining effective communication.
Professional Development
  • Play a full part in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Take responsibility for teaching, examination, and accreditation duties for junior medical staff, promoting their development.
Management and Service Development
  • Take an active role in the management of the Division, working closely with Divisional Manager, Consultant, and Senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new ways of working, aligning with modernization principles and fit for the future.
  • Ensure the best use of departmental staffing and resources, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following essential qualifications and experience:

  • Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC, with entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP).
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery.
  • Demonstrable training and expertise in sub-specialty area to complement existing consultants.
  • Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within ENT Surgery.

Desirable qualifications include relevant research published in peer-review journals and a Higher Medical Degree.
