About the Role:

Ferrovial Construction UK is seeking a highly skilled Section Engineer to join our team at Heathrow Airport. As a key member of our site management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the construction site to achieve project delivery objectives, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise subcontractors, assistant engineers, and site engineers, providing guidance on RAMS, setting out methods, and techniques.
  • Monitor and ensure that site engineers are following their responsibilities, including testing materials, briefing operatives, and filling in check sheets.
  • Maintain reasonable survey book standards and daily diaries, supporting your manager as needed.
  • Attend and sometimes lead coordination meetings with stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • Ensure that 3D information drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works.
  • Complete inspection and test plans, digitally recording results as required by the PMP/Specification.
  • Prepare and monitor a 2-4 weeks program with subcontractors and other suppliers.
  • Monitor work under your control to ensure safe conditions and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Consider plant, labor, material costs, and program.
  • Carry out material take-offs and requisitions as requested by sub-agent/agent.
  • Complete Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, MAR, and Task Briefings, reviewing documents prepared by others.
  • Order materials and maintain a register of all orders placed and confirmed.
  • Complete Temporary Works Design Briefs and inspect temporary works structures after receiving training.
  • Maintain good working relations with clients, designers, RE, and our supply chain.
  • Communicate with foremen and gangers to ensure full understanding of provided information.
  • Confirm written instructions to subcontractors and maintain comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works.
  • Ensure all delivery tickets are cost-coded and passed to the accounts department for processing.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Successful experience at a management engineering level in construction, specifically in civil engineering and/or utilities.
  • Demonstrated application of growing commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Experience working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • Good people management experience.
  • Experience managing subcontractors.
  • Experience in stakeholder management (client).
  • Relationship building with external parties is critical.
  • Significant civil engineering technology knowledge with significant previous experience.
  • A highly capable construction problem solver.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at various levels.
  • Computer literacy at an advanced level.
  • CSCS card.

Desirable Skills:

  • Airport experience/critical areas experience.
  • Experience working in an international organization.
  • Experience in stakeholder management (key stakeholders apart from client).
  • Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent.
