About the Role:

Ferrovial Construction UK is seeking a highly skilled Section Engineer to join our team at Heathrow Airport. As a key member of our site management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the construction site to achieve project delivery objectives, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise subcontractors, assistant engineers, and site engineers, providing guidance on RAMS, setting out methods, and techniques.
  • Monitor and ensure that survey books and daily diaries are maintained to a reasonable standard.
  • Coordinate meetings with stakeholders and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and project progress.
  • Verify that 3D information drawings and specification documents contain accurate and sufficient information for construction.
  • Ensure inspection and test plans are completed and digitally recorded, including dimension accuracy and quality checks.
  • Prepare and monitor project programs with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Identify and address unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage plant, labor, material costs, and program requirements.
  • Complete method statements, inspection test plans, and task briefings, reviewing documents prepared by others.
  • Order materials and maintain a register of all orders placed and confirmed.
  • Develop and inspect temporary works design briefs and structures.
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients, designers, RE, and the supply chain.
  • Communicate effectively with foremen and gangers to ensure understanding of project information.
  • Confirm verbal instructions in writing and maintain comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works.
  • Ensure delivery tickets are cost-coded and passed to the accounts department for processing.

Requirements:

  • Successful experience at a management engineering level in construction, specifically in civil engineering and/or utilities.
  • Demonstrated application of growing commercial and contractual knowledge.
  • Experience working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • Good people management experience.
  • Experience managing subcontractors.
  • Experience in stakeholder management (client).
  • Relationship building with external parties is critical.
  • Significant civil engineering technology knowledge with significant previous experience.
  • A highly capable construction problem solver.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at various levels.
  • Computer literacy at an advanced level.
  • CSCS card.

Desirable Skills:

  • Airport experience/critical areas experience.
  • Experience working in an international organization.
  • Experience in stakeholder management (key stakeholders apart from client).
  • Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent.
