Group Sales and Events Manager

At MERCURE, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Sales and Events Manager to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for driving Groups & MICE sales and delivering a client-focused service that results in the achievement of business revenue objectives.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in sales and events management, with a strong understanding of the hotel industry and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to meet and exceed budgeted targets, as well as managing the daily operation of Event Planning to achieve or exceed budget expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet and exceed budgeted targets
- Manage the daily operation of Event Planning to achieve or exceed budget expectations
- Monitor wages and expenses and make ongoing adjustments as needed to achieve goals
- Ensure accuracy of Forecast and Pace reports and work to provide excellent critiques for financial expenditure and departmental performance on a monthly basis
- Carry out local research of potential new local business and maintain records
- Develop relationships with local clients, direct bookers, and agency bookers to ensure a strong base of new and regular repeat business
- Promote, manage, and host regular client FAM trips and show rounds
- Be a key contact for the head office MICE sales team and ensure enquiries and RFPs are replied to in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Relevant sales experience is an asset
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
