About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Data Protection and Information Governance Lead to join our team at The Scottish Government. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in shaping our data protection and information governance strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data protection and information governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to senior leadership and staff on data protection and information governance matters.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data protection and information governance training programs for staff.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure data protection and information governance considerations are integrated into business operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including the Scottish Government Data Protection Officer and other government agencies.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in data protection and information rights law, policies, and technologies.
  • Supervise and support a team of data protection and information governance specialists.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in data protection and information governance, with a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and staff at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection and information governance best practices and technologies.
