Senior Data Protection and Information Governance Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Data Protection and Information Governance Lead to join our team at The Scottish Government. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation of data protection and information governance policies, processes, and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of data protection and information governance policies, processes, and services.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices in data protection and information governance.
- Manage and lead three teams responsible for data protection and information governance functions, including the Data Protection – (Corporate & Client) Teams and the Corporate Records and Information Governance team.
- Develop and enhance data protection policies, processes, services, and guidance.
- Provide training for staff on data protection and information governance.
- Handle and resolve data breaches.
- Facilitate individuals' information rights.
- Monitor and ensure performance and compliance for the Chief Executive and Executive Team.
- Cultivate a culture of ongoing improvement in data protection throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Experience in leading large, diverse teams in complex environments.
- Domain knowledge in data protection and information governance.
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
- Ability to stay informed on developments in data protection, information rights, and corporate records law, policies, strategies, and technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- A competitive salary between £73,757 - £85,130.
- Flexible working arrangements with potential for up to 4 days off per month.
