We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Data Protection and Information Governance Lead to join our team at The Scottish Government. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in shaping our data protection and information governance strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data protection and information governance strategy that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to senior leadership and staff on data protection and information governance matters, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards for data protection and information governance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective data protection and information governance practices across the organization.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in data protection and information governance, and provide expert advice and guidance to the organization.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of data protection and information governance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on data protection and information governance, providing authoritative advice and guidance to the organization and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data protection and information governance, with a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection and information governance best practices and industry standards.
