We seek a skilled Metallography Expert Role to join our team at the Active Handling Facility (AHF). As a key member of the Hot Cell Characterisation team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality metallographic samples and assisting in the development of techniques for sample production. Your expertise in remote handling and equipment maintenance will be crucial in ensuring reliable operations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing high-quality metallographic samples using cutting, polishing, and measurement techniques
  • Assisting in developing new and improving existing methods of sample production
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of remote equipment
  • Ensuring good housekeeping practices are followed at all times
  • Keeping detailed records of experimental data
  • Adherence to Health and Safety, Quality, and Security requirements

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with high levels of dexterity and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-motivation with the ability to use initiative when required
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for upholding high technical quality standards
  • British citizen or eligible to obtain SC level security clearance

Salary and Benefits:

This position offers a competitive salary range of £45,000-£65,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
