About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our Scientific Software Group as an Industrial Placement student. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, develop your skills, and contribute to the development of software used by scientists around the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software solutions for use at ISIS
  • Use continuous integration systems to develop software within our continuous delivery pipeline
  • Participate in Agile development processes
  • Undertake training in relevant tools and techniques
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
  • Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025
  • Studying for a degree in a software engineering, computer science, natural science, or a strongly related subject
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills, both technical and non-technical
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to program in a modern language
  • An interest in computing and science
