Job Summary

The Paediatric team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a locum consultant paediatrician to support acute general paediatrics, neonatal care, and outpatients. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly, dynamic department that offers excellent clinical experience in a supported environment.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for covering the general paediatric ward and admissions, level 1 + neonatal unit, labour ward, and transitional care. The post may also include a small number of resident night shifts. The consultant of the week system will provide a supportive environment, and there will be time within the individual's job plan to pursue other specialist interests.

Our Paediatric teams are responsible for providing inpatient care for a range of specialties, including medical, surgical, ENT, and orthopaedic admissions. We also have a dedicated paediatric outpatient area with over 8000 attendances each year.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • CCT Paediatrics or within 6 months of CCT or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics

Desirable qualifications include postgraduate qualifications in child health or related subjects, education, or quality improvement. The successful candidate will also have broad training in General Paediatrics, level 3 Neonatal Experience and Training, and training in developmental and community paediatrics appropriate for a General Paediatrician.
