Job Summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a locum consultant paediatrician to support acute general paediatrics, neonatal care, and outpatients. The successful candidate will be part of a friendly, dynamic department offering excellent clinical experience in a supported environment.

Main Duties

The locum consultant paediatrician will be responsible for on-call duties at consultant level, covering the general paediatric ward and admissions, level 1 + neonatal unit, labour ward, and transitional care. The post may also include a small number of resident night shifts.

About the Department

Our Paediatric teams are responsible for inpatient wards, Paediatric Assessment Units (PAU), outpatients, and neonatal care. The department operates a consultant of the week system, with time for pursuing specialist interests.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have MRCPCH or equivalent, CCT Paediatrics or within 6 months of CCT, and be on the GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics. A postgraduate qualification in child health or related subjects is desirable.

Key Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate will have broad training in General Paediatrics, level 3 Neonatal Experience and Training, and training in developmental and community paediatrics. They will also have safeguarding training and experience, as well as up-to-date APLS/NLS.
