About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Commis Chef to join our culinary team at Shepherd Neame. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of food to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in food preparation, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients as instructed
  • Contribute to the cooking and presentation of food to specification
  • Maintain good food hygiene practices and ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance to ensure a clean and safe working environment

Training and Development

You will have the opportunity to participate in our Commis Chef Academy programme, which includes exciting master classes and workshops. You will be required to travel to a Training Kitchen as part of your learning journey.

Apprentices will spend time with industry experts, sharing ideas and boosting their understanding of key areas such as preparation and cooking, as well as flavour profiling, dish composition, and seasonality. The workshops deliver content extracted from industry-recognised qualifications.

What We Need from You
  • The course length is 12 months, plus up to 3 months for End Point Assessment
  • You will need at least 6 hours per week in paid hours to complete your off-the-job training (On & Off site)
  • You will need to attend training at the Chef Academy roughly every four to six weeks
Next Steps

Once you have successfully completed this level 2 apprenticeship, you might be able to progress into a Senior Production or Chef De Partie role.
