Job Summary

Alexander Mann Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Penetration Tester to join our team on behalf of Public Sector Resourcing. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities within our client's IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct thorough penetration tests on internal and external networks, web applications, and other systems to identify security vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
  2. Develop and execute detailed testing plans, scripts, and methodologies for penetration testing to ensure effective security assessments.
  3. Perform manual and automated security testing using industry-standard tools and techniques to identify potential security risks.
  4. Analyse test results to provide actionable insights and recommendations for remediation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  5. Collaborate with IT teams to understand the architecture and design of systems for effective testing and to provide training and guidance on security best practices.
  6. Provide detailed reports of findings, including risk assessments and potential impacts, to stakeholders.
  7. Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure a secure IT environment.
  8. Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends to ensure our client's IT infrastructure remains secure.
  9. Conduct security audits to ensure compliance with government regulations and standards.
  10. Provide training and guidance to IT staff on security best practices and threat mitigation.
  11. Participate in incident response efforts to analyse and mitigate security breaches.
Requirements
  1. SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, and NPPV3 clearance is also required.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and/or ethical hacking.
  3. In-depth knowledge of penetration testing methodologies and tools, such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Nessus, etc.
  4. Strong understanding of network protocols, network services, and system architecture.
  5. Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  6. Ability to think creatively and strategically to outsmart potential attackers.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and mitigate security risks.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and explaining vulnerabilities and their impact.
  9. Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve security goals.
  11. High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  12. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Essential Certifications
  1. Must have at least two of the following certifications: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent, CREST Registered Tester (CRT) or CREST Certified Tester (CCT), CHECK Team Leader (CTL) or CHECK Team Member (CTM).
