Role Overview
The Lead Practitioner role is pivotal in guiding practice excellence, reporting directly to the Team Manager. This position emphasizes leadership through exemplary direct engagement, staff development, and specialization in specific practice areas.
As an expert in the field, the Lead Practitioner will directly influence and contribute to achieving positive safety and well-being outcomes for children. This role involves mentoring team members to enhance their skills and confidence in their professional practice.
The Lead Practitioner will demonstrate a strong capacity to achieve desired outcomes and serve as a role model through the effective execution of the following responsibilities:
1. Building and maintaining strong relationships.
2. Managing casework effectively.
3. Conducting thorough assessments and ongoing evaluations.
4. Producing high-quality reports and maintaining accurate case records.
5. Making informed professional judgments and recommendations based on assessments and reviews.
6. Developing, coordinating, implementing, and reviewing evidence-based plans.
7. Providing direct support to children and their families.
8. Matching children and families with appropriate evidence-based services tailored to their needs.
9. Coordinating multi-agency input for assessments, planning, and support.
10. Applying theoretical frameworks to all aspects of practice.
11. Fostering innovative and creative approaches to assessments and planning for children and families.
12. Consistently meeting performance standards throughout the child’s journey.
Essential Qualifications
We seek experienced Lead Practitioners who possess the following qualifications:
- Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
- Foundation level systemic practice qualification (desirable)
- Practice Educator or Practice Teacher qualification (desirable)
- Comprehensive knowledge of national policies, strategies, and developments in children's social care.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards, and procedures.
- Understanding of theoretical frameworks, practice models, and research findings.
- Knowledge of reflective supervision models that influence practice and outcomes.
- Ability to maintain comprehensive records that demonstrate engagement with children and families, contributing to quality assurance frameworks.
