Role Overview

The Lead Practitioner position is accountable to the Team Manager, offering guidance in practice through exemplary direct engagement; staff development, and specialization in a designated area of practice.

As an expert in the field, the Lead Practitioner will directly facilitate or contribute to achieving positive safety and well-being outcomes for children. This role involves supporting team members to enhance their practice levels and build confidence in their professional abilities.

The Lead Practitioner will possess a refined capability to deliver on outcomes and serve as a role model for the team through the effective execution of the following responsibilities:

1. Engagement and relationship building / maintenance.

2. Case management.

3. Analytical and ongoing assessment.

4. High-quality report writing and case documentation.

5. Making informed professional judgments and recommendations based on assessment and review.

6. Development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based plans.

7. Provision of direct support to children and their families.

8. Matching children/families with evidence-based services tailored to identified needs.

9. Coordination of multi-professional and agency contributions to assessment, planning, and support.

10. Application of theoretical frameworks to all facets of practice.

11. Fostering the development of innovative assessments and planning to assist children and their families.

12. Consistently meeting performance standards throughout the child’s journey.

Essential Qualifications

We seek experienced Lead Practitioners who also possess:
Qualified Social Worker status and current registration with Social Work England.
Foundation level systemic practice qualification – desirable.
Practice Educator or Practice Teacher qualification – desirable.
Knowledge of national policies, strategies, and developments affecting children's social care.
Understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards, and procedures.
Familiarity with theoretical frameworks, practice models, and research findings.
Awareness of reflective supervision models that influence practice and outcomes.
Ability to maintain records that demonstrate engagement with children and families, informing quality assurance frameworks through quantitative, qualitative, and outcome data.
