Role Overview

The Lead Practitioner position is a pivotal role within the Family Assessment Services, reporting directly to the Team Manager. This role is designed to provide exemplary leadership in practice through direct engagement, staff development, and specialization in a defined area of service delivery.

As an expert in the field, the Lead Practitioner is responsible for delivering or contributing to the achievement of positive outcomes regarding the safety and well-being of children. This role also involves mentoring team members to enhance their skills and confidence in practice.

The Lead Practitioner will demonstrate a strong capacity to achieve desired outcomes and serve as a role model for colleagues through the effective execution of the following responsibilities:

1. Building and maintaining relationships with children and families.

2. Managing cases effectively.

3. Conducting thorough assessments and ongoing evaluations.

4. Producing high-quality reports and maintaining accurate case records.

5. Making informed professional judgments and recommendations based on comprehensive assessments.

6. Developing, coordinating, implementing, and reviewing evidence-based plans.

7. Providing direct support to children and their families.

8. Matching children and families with appropriate evidence-based services tailored to their needs.

9. Coordinating multi-agency input for assessments, planning, and support.

10. Applying theoretical frameworks to all aspects of practice.

11. Fostering innovative and creative approaches to assessments and planning.

12. Consistently meeting performance standards throughout the child’s journey.

Essential Qualifications

We seek experienced Lead Practitioners who possess the following qualifications:
- Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
- Foundation level systemic practice qualification (desirable)
- Practice Educator or Practice Teacher qualification (desirable)
- In-depth knowledge of national policies, strategies, and developments affecting children's social care.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards, and procedures.
- Understanding of theoretical frameworks, practice models, and research findings.
- Knowledge of reflective supervision models that influence practice and outcomes.
- Ability to maintain comprehensive records that demonstrate engagement with children and families, contributing to quality assurance frameworks.
