We are seeking an exceptional English Lead Practitioner to join our team at Harris Academy South Norwood. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a leading role in driving academic excellence and improving teaching and learning across the English department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of English curriculum and assessment strategies to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of students and staff, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted interventions to drive progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver high-quality professional development opportunities, promoting excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of academy policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in all areas of school life.
  • Participate in duties at lunch, break, before, during, and after school, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being and safety of all students.
  • Ensure that schemes of learning and independent work books are of the highest quality, reflecting the academy's commitment to academic excellence.

Requirements

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, with a strong track record of professional development.
  • Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management, with a proven ability to raise student achievement.
  • Have experience of improvement planning and implementing strategies to drive student progress, with evidence of success.
  • Be able to contribute to improving the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum, with a focus on academic excellence.
  • Have experience of high-quality pupil tracking and feedback practices, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
