About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect with a focus on assurance to evaluate and validate third-party implementations of Azure cloud solutions. As a Cloud Solutions Architect - Assurance Expert, you will ensure that all deployments adhere to Azure best practices, including the Azure Well-Architected Framework, Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), and industry standards for security, compliance, cost optimization, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and Assess Cloud Solutions: Review and assess cloud solutions delivered by third parties to ensure compliance with Azure best practices, including landing zones, subscription designs, security, governance, secure access, and operational excellence.
  • Perform Comprehensive Audits: Perform comprehensive audits based on the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) to ensure that solutions are resilient, secure, efficient, and compliant.
  • Provide Written Reports: Provide written reports to clients monthly on key findings, risks, observations, and recommendations.
  • Ensure Security and Compliance: Ensure that third-party implementations meet security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CIS, NIST).
  • Validate Identity and Access Management: Validate identity and access management (IAM), network security configurations, and data protection measures.
  • Assess Infrastructure as Code: Assess the use of infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM, Terraform, Bicep) to ensure that deployment automation is implemented consistently and follows best practices.
  • Evaluate CI/CD Pipelines: Evaluate CI/CD pipelines used by third-party vendors to ensure automation of deployment processes follows secure and efficient practices, including automation testing and security scanning.
  • Verify Deployment Processes: Verify that deployment processes are repeatable, scalable, and aligned with DevOps principles.
  • Conduct Cost Optimization Reviews: Conduct reviews of cloud resources to ensure cost optimization strategies are in place, such as effective use of reserved instances, autoscaling, and proper resource tagging for tracking usage and costs.
  • Provide Recommendations: Provide recommendations to optimize cloud spend and increase financial efficiency.
  • Ensure Governance Frameworks: Ensure governance frameworks and guardrails are in place, including policy enforcement, role-based access control (RBAC), and resource consistency.
  • Validate Azure Landing Zones: Validate Azure Landing Zones and governance structures established by third-party vendors.
  • Provide Detailed Reports: Provide detailed reports and feedback to stakeholders, outlining areas of improvement, risks, and compliance gaps in third-party solutions.
  • Validate Test Approach: Validate the test approach and quality of testing proposed to support acceptance testing.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Azure Cloud Architecture: Experience in Azure cloud architecture, with a focus on assurance, security, and compliance.
  • Proven Experience in Architecture Reviews: Proven experience in conducting architecture reviews and assessments based on the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF).
  • Strong Background in Cloud Security Auditing: Strong background in cloud security auditing and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Hands-on Experience with Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Terraform, or Bicep) and DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

Skills Required:

  • Deep Knowledge of Azure Services: Deep knowledge of core Azure services (VMs, AKS, ACR, VNETs, Storage, etc.) and their best practices.
  • Strong Understanding of Azure Governance: Strong understanding of Azure governance, policy management, and security tools (Azure Policy, Blueprints, Security Centre).
  • Experience with Cost Management Tools: Experience with cost management and optimization tools (Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor).
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to third-party vendors.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams to ensure third-party solutions meet best practice standards.
