Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Community Public Health Nurse to join our Health Visiting service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to families and children in our community.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of antenatal and postnatal care programs.
  • Complete mandated reviews, packages of care, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Support the supervision and development of colleagues.
  • Undertake a range of clinical and non-clinical interventions to support the outcomes for families and the service.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings.
  • Build relationships with colleagues to enhance the team working environment.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Registered healthcare professional (NMC registration)
  • Health-related degree and evidence of relevant postgraduate development at Level 6
  • Evidence of Specialist qualifications relevant to the area of practice - Specialist Community Public Health Nurse

Desirable Criteria

  • PRINCE 2 or equivalent project management training
  • PTLLS/DTLLS, PGCE, or Certificate in Education Management or supervisory qualification or experience of study

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the area of practice
  • Practical experience in managing health-related projects/complex caseloads
  • Supporting others (mentor/educator/supervisor) experience

Skills and Ability

  • Understanding of training needs in relation to post
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organizational levels across different sectors, including areas of social deprivation
  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills

Knowledge

  • Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance relevant to the care setting and its application across healthcare services
  • Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months
