Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team in Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals experiencing mental health issues, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their recovery goals.

The successful candidate will work within the 24/7 Community Mental Health Support Hub, based in Copeland, Cumbria, and will be part of a joint project with other partners to provide a structure of lived experience throughout the project.

This role offers a challenging yet rewarding experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, and requires the ability to work creatively and effectively challenge practice and language use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support individuals to identify personal recovery goals and contribute to care planning.
  • Deliver group work and one-to-one sessions using wellness plans and tools, co-developing therapeutic groups with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Build service user and carer confidence through their care pathway and towards their own aspirations of a meaningful recovery.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of Peer Support Specialist Training or other similar peer support training.
  • Completion of Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training.
  • Ability to assist people to develop recovery and wellness plans.
  • Ability to work in an enabling and creative way.
  • The ability to effectively challenge practice and language use.
Working Arrangements

This is a community-based role, requiring the ability to work centrally from the hub and travel across the Copeland area and other Trust sites across CNTW. Unsociable working hours may be required due to the 24/7 nature of the project.
