Director of Pathology Services

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to fill the position of Director of Pathology Services at North Bristol NHS Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to our pathology services, ensuring they are aligned with the Trust's clinical strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the strategic development of pathology services, ensuring alignment with the Trust's clinical strategy.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve the quality and efficiency of pathology services.
- Oversee the development and delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective services.
- Lead discussions with commercial and NHS partners to support service delivery.
- Lead service development, ensuring that staff development and customer/patient focus is at the core.
- Work with pathology network partners to support the maturation of the network.
- Represent pathology services both locally, regionally, and nationally.
- Extensive senior leadership and operational management experience (5 years +) gained within a healthcare provider setting, or other large public sector organisation.
- Proven people management experience in a senior role, preferably working across organisations, partnerships, or with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience of leading and managing substantial service change and redesign in a complex environment.
- Evidence of significant achievement in managing and delivering strategic level projects or workstreams.
- Experience of managing complex operational situations that involve staff from all levels within the organisation and across a range of professional and organisational boundaries.
- Strong communication and relationship skills, including proven ability to build relationships with senior leaders and partners, and the ability to deliver complex, sensitive, and sometimes contentious corporate messages.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding, with the ability to lead business development in a competitive environment/market.
- Personal alignment with the Trust's Values of: Caring, Ambitious, Respectful, and Supportive.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist is desirable but not essential.
