Job Description

Job Title: Thoracic Pathology Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Thoracic Pathology Specialist to join our dynamic Cellular Pathology Service at North Bristol NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert diagnostic and research services in Thoracic Pathology, working closely with our clinical teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert diagnostic services in Thoracic Pathology, including histopathology and cytology
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research projects in Thoracic Pathology, in collaboration with our clinical teams and academic partners
  • Supervise and teach junior medical staff and students in Thoracic Pathology
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of patient care
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our clinical teams, academic partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration

Requirements:

  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification
  • Subspecialty interest in Thoracic Pathology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Desirable:

  • Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or PhD)
  • Management qualification
  • Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices
