Job Description

North Bristol NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Care. This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Pathology services, ensuring alignment with the Trust's clinical strategy and responding to the commissioning agenda.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic development of Pathology services, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of services, including Blood Sciences, Cellular Pathology, Infection Sciences, and the South-west Genomics Laboratory Hub.
  • Represent Pathology services locally, regionally, and nationally, promoting excellence and collaboration with other partners.
  • Work with Pathology network partners to support the maturation of the network and ensure seamless service delivery.
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to join North Bristol NHS Trust and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have extensive senior leadership and operational management experience, with a proven track record of leading and managing significant service change and redesign in a complex environment.

Requirements
  • Higher professional or management degree (Masters level), or equivalent knowledge, acquired through relevant experience and substantial programmes of knowledge and skills development.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
