Job Title: Director of Care Services

Severn Pathology is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Care Services to lead our pathology services team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to our pathology services, ensuring that we deliver high-quality patient care and meet the needs of our patients and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic development of pathology services, ensuring alignment with the Trust's clinical strategy.
  • Ensure the Trust is responsive to the commissioning agenda.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective services.
  • Lead discussions with commercial and NHS partners to support service delivery.
  • Lead service development, ensuring that staff development and customer/patient focus is at the core.
  • Work with Pathology network partners to support maturation of the network.
  • Represent Pathology services both locally, regionally, and nationally.
Requirements:
  • Extensive senior leadership and operational management experience (5 years +) gained within a healthcare provider setting, or other large public sector organisation.
  • Proven people management experience in a senior role, preferably working across organisations, partnerships or with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience of leading and managing significant service change/redesign in a complex, multiprofessional, environment.
  • Good understanding of the nature of Pathology service delivery, including the changing NHS commissioning and delivery context.
  • Highly developed analytical and interpretation skills enabling judgements to be made on a range of frequently complex service and professional issues.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
