We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to lead a class within an ARP of a mainstream primary school. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in SEN to demonstrate their skills and teach a class of 6-8 pupils. All students in the class have a diagnosis of Autism, with some presenting challenging behaviour.
The students span across year 3, year 4, and year 6, although they are working at KS1 level. Understanding different communication methods, such as PECs and core boards, is crucial, especially as one student in the class is nonverbal.
The successful Teacher should have experience in planning and assessing children with additional needs to identify areas for improvement, enabling students to achieve their full potential. Additionally, the role requires a strong background in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques, with three support staff members assigned to this class.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver core subjects effectively
- Teach emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies
- Be a positive role model to facilitate communication, with a nurturing and consistent approach
- Establish strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
- Have experience working with disengaged teenagers
