About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Child Protection Specialist in Powys County Council. As a Supervising Social Worker, you will be working with Family and Friends Carers to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

About You:

  • You should have post-qualifying experience in a fostering-related social worker role or other childcare settings such as looked after children's teams.
  • You should have knowledge and understanding of the needs and experiences of children who are unable to live with their parents, as well as skills and knowledge in complex family dynamics and support.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Well-being Act and Fostering Regulations is essential.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You will supervise foster carers, ensuring they receive appropriate advice and guidance to enable them to provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children/young people.
  • You will participate in our recruitment process by undertaking occasional initial home visits to potential foster carers.
  • You will have opportunities to participate in foster carer training, such as Skills to Foster Pre-approval training.
  • You will occasionally undertake fostering assessments and Friends and Family Assessments.
  • You will support the recruitment officers by taking part in actively recruiting foster carers.
