About the Role

This Child Therapist/Counsellor position is part of our Specialist Weight Management Service in Nottinghamshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent care to children and young people, working under the line management of the Head of Service with clinical supervision from the Divisional therapist lead.

The role involves providing therapeutic interventions to children and young people accessing specialist weight management programmes, ensuring a clear, evidence-based, effective, and consistent service for all clients.

You will join a new team comprising a Head of Service, nutritionists, therapists, exercise specialists, and administrators, working within the wider MDT of GPs, psychologists, dietitians, nutritionists, exercise specialists, and healthy lifestyle advisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work effectively and collaboratively to ensure the successful operation of therapeutic provision within the service.
  • To be a part of a multi-disciplinary assessment (MDA) team, facilitating psychological and risk assessments to aid the development of client/family formulations and care pathways.
  • Support children to discuss and work through complex, sensitive, and personal information related to their presentation, including deconstruction of current interactional patterns of behaviour and meaning around obesity issues.
  • To prepare and participate in peer supervisions and case reviews with other therapists regularly across the organisation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and client records utilising digital systems and databases.
Requirements
  • Be an experienced therapist in a community health environment, assisting and delivering support to children and young people.
  • Experience of working with diverse communities within varied cultural environments.
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy core concepts and behaviour change models.
  • Administration skills relating to psychological assessments, psychometrics, and risk assessments.
Salary

£26,500 to £28,500 per year pro rata for part-time.
