About the Role

This position is responsible for leading the Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team in the EU, focusing on elevating environmental compliance within Amazon.

Reporting directly to the EU Head of EAP, the successful candidate will oversee EU Launch and Retrofits/Expansions/Initiatives (REI) and other priority programs within EAP.

The role requires close collaboration with EU EAP, Design & Construction, Preconstruction, Launch, Workplace Health and Safety, and Sustainability, as well as cross-functional relationships with EU Operations, Engineering, and Amazon's central continuous improvement functions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. EU EAP ownership of the Launch and REI Program, ensuring environmental compliance throughout each life cycle
  2. Defining EU EAP standards and documentation to integrate environmental activities into Launch and REI
  3. Improving integration of EU EAP with EU Launch and REI mechanisms
  4. Developing robust reporting mechanisms to track environmental compliance activities for leadership
  5. Defining the long-term strategy and end-state for Amazon's collaboration with 3P vendors to achieve 3-year compliance goals and bridge current gaps
  6. Identifying KPIs to manage performance, data quality, and cost of Launch and REI
  7. Establishing mechanisms to control spent and performance, aligning yearly targets with Finance
  8. Influencing tech teams to develop long-term solutions for managing Launch and REI needs from EAP
  9. Creating a framework to cover end-to-end needs by business type in the EU for Launch and REI

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Experience in compliance, audit, or risk management
  • Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments (travel up to 50%) and influencing those not direct reports or within the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Sr. Managers and Directors
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
  • Master's degree or equivalent
