Our team at Amazon is seeking a Senior Environmental Compliance Manager to lead and drive environmental operational excellence across our operations in the UK and Ireland. This role is responsible for ensuring strategy and operational tactics are executed by providing technical support for existing operations and future expansion across multiple facilities within their region.

The Senior Environmental Compliance Manager will report to the Business Environmental Leader for UK and IRL through the EU Environmental Assurance and Protection team. They will partner with operations leadership teams to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable specific country, state/province, region, and local regulations.

This role entails up to 50% travel to multiple sites across the countries listed above. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of EU, country, and region-specific environmental regulation and experience in engaging with Regulatory Agencies in permit applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater, and other environmental-related laws, regulations, and permits.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with business partners to support their success in environmental compliance, performance, and sustainability initiatives.
  3. Participate in the development, introduction, control, improvement, and application of environmental management control systems, procedures, processes, and products.
  4. Measure and analyze sites' performance against published requirements in environmental policies.
  5. Cooperate in contacts with the authorities and in the implementation of any notification, permission, and approval procedures according to environmental law.
  6. Participate in the annual data collection and reporting (internal, external) as well as controls (measurements, reviews) on environmentally relevant issues.
  7. Manage environmental risk program(s) and/or projects, where the risk is defined, but the business problem and solution may not be defined.
  8. Be the environmental subject matter expert for your area, knowing how to apply regulations and innovations in risk mitigation across teams.
  9. Drive goal and regulation-based control outcomes and/or risk reduction, informing/helping to establish mechanisms to bring risk within tolerance levels.
