About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our research team at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative project jointly supervised by Prof Róisín M. Owens in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CEB) and Dr Muireann Coen, Oncology Safety, AstraZeneca.

Project Overview

The project aims to develop conformal electronic devices for non-invasive, dynamic monitoring of barrier tissues. This interdisciplinary project spans the fields of bioelectronics, tissue engineering, and drug discovery, with significant potential for impact in both academia and industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • To design and optimize conformal planar electrodes for non-invasive measurement of epithelial tissues;
  • To expand on the initial proof of principle, enabling collection of spatial information on different parts of a tissue;
  • To enhance sensitivity for measurement from endothelial tissues and adaptation of materials for monitoring from more complex tissue shapes or 3D structures.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual capable of thinking and working independently. Applicants should have or shortly expect to obtain a first or high second-class degree from a UK university, or an equivalent standard from an overseas university, in all previous degrees and in a relevant subject such as biomedical or (bio)chemical engineering.

Benefits
