Operating Department Practitioner: Theatre Support Specialist

As an Operating Department Practitioner with the Royal Air Force, you will be an integral part of our theatre team providing peri-operative patient care. This role requires a unique blend of clinical expertise and military skills to ensure the smooth running of the operating theatre and its specialized equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a multifunctional member of the anaesthetic, scrub, and recovery teams.
- Provide resuscitation and first surgical assistance.
- Reprocess instruments and other reusable medical devices in the Sterile Services Department.
- Aged 17 – 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday).
- Citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, holder of dual UK/other nationality or have been a Commonwealth citizen since birth (with 'right to work' immigration status).
- Commit to minimum 12 years service.

You will receive basic and specialist training in your field, including a 10-week Basic Recruit Training Course at RAF Halton and a 3-year BSc (Hons) in Operating Department Practice at the Defence School of Health Education at Birmingham City University.
Salary and BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive subsidised food, travel, accommodation, and free gym facilities, as well as a paid pension and paid holiday.
