Position Overview

The Estimating Engineer will be accountable for gathering, analyzing, and providing data that informs Category Sourcing Strategies and tactical procurement initiatives. This includes the evaluation of spend data, market insights, supplier and supply chain information, product specifications, service data, and emerging trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an estimating database to forecast future spending patterns and opportunities.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing process flow for individual components.
  • Conduct research and analysis to predict costs associated with materials, transportation, labor, and equipment based on geographic factors.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with suppliers to enhance market intelligence.
  • Assist procurement teams in evaluating supplier quotes and contractor proposals within designated timelines.
  • Evaluate project risk levels and provide insights.
  • Support bid preparations for new contracts and assist procurement activities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering and/or the Aerospace industry.
  • A degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or Physics.
  • Strong interest or proficiency in global economic principles.
  • Exceptional analytical and forecasting capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret Aerospace engineering drawings and formulate cost estimates.
  • Competence in data analysis, modeling, and interpretation.
  • High mathematical proficiency.
  • Ability to perform under pressure to achieve set objectives, budgets, and deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, databases, and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • A methodical and logical approach to tasks.
  • Effective planning and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP systems.
  • Understanding of Category Management principles.
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
  • Experience in Stakeholder Management.

Travel Expectations

  • Occasional regional travel may be required.
  • Infrequent global travel may occur.
