Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Receptionist to provide a high-level welcome and efficient patient-focused service in a dynamic healthcare setting. As the first point of contact, you will be responsible for greeting clients and visitors, ensuring clinical staff are aware of their take, and dealing with all incoming calls.

Main Duties

This is a customer-facing role that requires the post holder to provide a comprehensive, efficient, confidential, and tactful reception, clerical, and administrative service for the department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing welcome duties, including greeting clients and visitors, and ensuring clinical staff are made aware of their take.
  • Dealing with all incoming calls, recording and relaying messages accurately via telephone, email, and face-to-face contact.
  • Maintaining general tidiness of the waiting area, including notice boards and leaflet stands.
  • Ensuring the reception area is well-stocked with information relevant to clients.
  • Maintaining efficient computerised and manual record systems, including requesting maintenance jobs, tracking case notes, and ensuring all confidential documents and files are locked away.
  • Assisting with other administrative duties within the administration team as required.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and IT skills, with a minimum OCR/RSA II typing/word processing or equivalent level of knowledge and experience. Previous experience of working in a customer-facing role and high-level Microsoft office software is also essential. Relevant experience of working within the NHS is desirable.
