Job Overview

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Clinical Support Worker Higher Level to join our Urgent and Emergency Care Centre team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting qualified nursing staff in a seamless assessment process.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To assist in admitting patients to the ward, completing demographic details, and recording baseline observations.
  • To provide care to patients following instructions in the care plan, programme, or pathway.
  • To demonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinical observations.
  • To recognise abnormal recordings or signs of change in a patient's condition and report changes to a registered nurse.
  • To assess patients' level of dependence in meeting personal care needs and provide appropriate assistance.
  • To assist patients to eat and drink in a sensitive and supportive manner.
  • To accurately record information on patient food charts and fluid balance charts, reporting concerns to a registered nurse.
  • To carry out clinical skills relevant to the ward/department and patient group.
  • To assist clinical teams with data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate documentation of care.
  • To assist in escorting, transferring, and discharging patients, ensuring all property is packed and the bed area is prepared for the next patient.
  • To ensure treatment rooms and ward areas are adequately stocked and tidy.
  • To participate in clinical supervision.
  • To assist in resolving conflict by responding to concerns and complaints in a positive manner.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Care certificate
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties

Knowledge

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
  • Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication
  • Time-keeping, planning, and prioritisation skills

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
