Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre as a Clinical Support Worker Higher Level. You will be part of a team that provides high-quality patient care and supports the nursing staff in providing direct patient care.

Main Duties
  • Assist in admitting patients to the ward, completing demographic details, and recording baseline observations.
  • Provide care to patients following instructions in the care plan, programme, or pathway.
  • Demonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinical observations.
  • Recognize abnormal recordings or signs of change in a patient's condition and report changes to a registered nurse.
  • Assess a patient's level of dependence in meeting personal care needs and provide appropriate assistance.
  • Assist patients with eating and drinking in a sensitive and supportive manner.
  • Accurately record information on patient food charts and fluid balance charts, reporting concerns to a registered nurse.
  • Carry out clinical skills relevant to the ward/department and patient group, such as phlebotomy, ECG recording, and simple dressings.
  • Assist the clinical team with data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate documentation of care.
  • Escort, transfer, and discharge patients, ensuring all property is packed and the bed area is prepared for the next patient.
  • Ensure treatment rooms and ward areas are adequately stocked and tidy.
  • Participate in clinical supervision.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts by responding to concerns and complaints in a positive manner.

Person Specification

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Care certificate
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in patient and clinical care duties
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
  • Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication
  • Time-keeping, planning, and prioritization skills

Please note that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust will be required to pay the cost of their DBS clearance via salary deduction from their first month's pay.
