About the Role:
- To deliver high-quality support and interventions for individuals with complex needs, focusing on drug and alcohol recovery, harm reduction, and offender rehabilitation in community and prison settings.
- Establish strong relationships with service users, ensuring seamless transitions between police custody suites, prisons, and community services.
- Provide structured group work sessions using evidence-based programs like SMART Recovery, Foundations of Recovery, and other relevant interventions.
- Promote social inclusion and engagement by offering Assertive Outreach services to clients' homes, communities, and local areas as needed.
- Implement Naloxone and injecting equipment provision as part of a comprehensive harm reduction strategy.
- Manage referrals from police stations or custody nurses, prioritizing individual needs and maximizing engagement opportunities.
- Foster peer initiatives and encourage user feedback to drive service improvement.
- Serve as a liaison between the service and Edinburgh's recovery communities, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.
About You:
- A deep understanding of drug and alcohol issues, combined with experience working in the criminal justice sector or related fields.
- An in-depth comprehension of the harmful effects associated with drug misuse and offending, including their impact on health, social welfare, housing, employability, and personal relationships.
- The ability to work flexible hours as required, adapting to changing circumstances while maintaining excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication and IT skills, enabling effective verbal and written interactions with diverse stakeholders.
- A proactive approach, allowing you to work independently and make informed decisions that prioritize service user needs.
- A good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and best practices, informing your support strategies.
- A supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with professionals, agencies, and stakeholders across various sectors.
- The ability to manage change effectively, prioritizing the needs of service users and driving continuous improvement within the organization.
- An understanding of information governance processes and a commitment to upholding necessary safeguards to protect sensitive information.
- A willingness to seek out learning opportunities, enhancing professional knowledge and contributing to the development of others within the team.
What We Offer:
- A competitive salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 days after five years of service), plus bank holidays.
