Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Women's Support Specialist to join our team at Edinburgh Women's Aid. The successful candidate will provide safe and secure refuge accommodation for women and children who are at risk of domestic abuse.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

This is a permanent position, subject to funding.

About the Role

As a Women's Support Specialist, you will work closely with our team to provide an age-appropriate, high-quality service to children and young people aged 13-22 who have experienced domestic abuse. Your focus will be on those aged 16 and above.

You will address the growing need for support among young individuals experiencing domestic abuse in their own relationships, including crisis intervention, advocacy, and life skills development.

To meet legal requirements, Dundee Women's Aid standards, and policies while promoting DWA's work in the local and wider community.

You will collaborate with young people, families, and external agencies to ensure a comprehensive, person-centred approach to addressing domestic abuse.

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for women and children.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Work closely with the Senior Children's Services Domestic Abuse Practitioner and colleagues.

This role requires good communication skills, a passion for supporting recovery from domestic abuse, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

An SVQ Level III or equivalent qualification in health and social care or other relevant subject is required, or a willingness to work towards a qualification.

PVG Scheme membership is a requirement for this post.
