Job Title: School Receptionist

Location: Chesterfield

Salary: £14.66 per hour

Contract: Temporary (until Christmas)

GSL Education is seeking a highly organised and welcoming School Receptionist to join our team in Chesterfield. As the first point of contact, you will be responsible for managing calls, emails, and administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the school office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet visitors, parents, and students warmly and assist students visiting the reception area.
  • Answer calls and emails, directing them appropriately.
  • Manage the main reception area, ensuring professionalism and organisation.
  • Assist with filing, photocopying, data entry, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records and assist with enrolment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students while supporting the dissemination of information via newsletters and other channels.
  • Manage the school calendar, scheduling appointments and meetings.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to foster a positive, inclusive environment.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for building effective relationships.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills.
  • Familiarity with school management systems is a plus.
  • Efficient in managing workloads independently and skilled in problem-solving to calmly address and resolve issues.
  • Maintains personal and professional privacy.
  • A team player who collaborates effectively in a friendly manner.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
