At the Commonwealth of Virginia, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Administrator to join our team.

About Us

The departments under the Vice President for Finance and Administration work to improve the overall financial position and stability of the University, providing timely, accurate, and complete financial information to students, faculty, staff, and administrators. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all contracted Faculty and Adjunct employee payrolls are processed timely and accurately.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

This Senior Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing payroll functions primarily for Hourly and Student employees, preparing and maintaining payroll reports related to each pay cycle, and providing timely and responsive customer service. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of state payroll procedures, bookkeeping/accounting principles, and automated payroll systems such as CARDINAL, BANNER, and KRONOS.

Responsibilities
  • Process payroll functions for Hourly and Student employees
  • Maintain accurate and timely payroll reports
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Assist with ensuring all other payrolls are processed timely and accurately
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalency with coursework in accounting/bookkeeping
  • Prior experience in payroll, including knowledge of state payroll procedures and automated payroll systems
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply complex fiscal policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $50,600, based on location and experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
