Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Relational Database Administrator to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our technology staff, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Oracle relational database environment.

The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of database design, administration, utility, and tools, as well as experience with database performance and tuning, system and security management, and data migration in a Solaris/Unix environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement relational databases to meet business needs
  • Provide consultation on database design, implementation, and technical issues
  • Monitor and optimize database performance
  • Identify and resolve database problems
  • Collaborate with development staff to troubleshoot and monitor systems
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Considerable knowledge of Oracle database design, administration, utility, and tools
  • Experience with database performance and tuning, system and security management, and data migration in a Solaris/Unix environment
  • Skills in the use of laptop computers and standard Microsoft Office applications
