Job Title: External Examiner – Doctorate in Clinical Psychology

We are seeking a qualified clinical psychologist to serve as an external examiner for our three-year, full-time doctoral-level training programme in Clinical Psychology. This program has been accredited and approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), respectively.

The successful candidate will enhance the quality of teaching and learning within our School. For the Award External Examiner position, we seek a candidate with systemic family therapy qualifications, AFT accreditation, and an occupation as a clinical psychologist. The non-Award External Examiner should also be a clinical psychologist. While prior experience as External Examiners is preferred, candidates with relevant educational and professional backgrounds will be considered.

Award External Examiner Responsibilities:
  • Assess and provide feedback on student coursework, particularly for modules HS639, HS764, HS771, HS772, HS774, HS775, HS783, and HS784.
  • Review and comment on the annual External Examiner's Report to ensure academic standards and achievements of students are comparable with those in other HEIs.
  • Engage with the programme team in the continuous development of the programmes, including providing recommendations on assessment processes and subject benchmarks.
Non-Award External Examiner Responsibilities:
  • Assess and provide feedback on student coursework for modules HS761, HS762, HS763, HS765, HS773, HS781, and HS782.
  • Participate in examination boards and provide comments on student performance.
  • Review and comment on the annual External Examiner's Report to ensure academic standards and achievements of students are comparable with those in other HEIs.

This appointment will last four years from February 2025, requiring a commitment to attend one examination board per year and submit regular reports. The estimated salary range for this position is £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
