Person-Centred Support Worker

Join our team as a Person-Centred Support Worker at Midland Mencap and contribute to the enhancement of lives of adults with learning disabilities in the Erdington, Pype Hayes & Kingstanding areas of Birmingham.

This role requires dedication to enabling individuals to thrive within their community, pursue employment, training, and volunteering opportunities, and maintain their overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver tailored support based on individual needs and risk assessments.
- Establish connections between individuals and local community resources, services, and experts.
- Emphasise and uphold the rights, dignity, respect, and autonomy of each individual.
- Support the growth of independent living skills, including digital literacy.
- Foster strong relationships between individuals and their families, friends, and the local community.
- Collaborate with individuals to manage finances effectively and maximise their income.
- Address accessibility barriers by offering clear explanations and adapting formats.
- Facilitate seamless access to healthcare services, including Annual Health Checks.
- Contribute to the overall wellbeing of individuals, encompassing emotional, physical, spiritual, cultural, and psychological aspects.
- Record progress and outcomes, facilitating potential move-on scenarios.
- Abide by Midland Mencap's Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.
- Share pertinent information with senior staff regarding individual wellbeing or service operation.
- Preserve precise digital records aligned with service requirements.
- Utilise a work-issued mobile device for 'check-in/check-out' during support sessions.
- Provide face-to-face support whenever practical, complemented by remote contact when necessary.
- Participate in continuous professional development, complete the Care Certificate, and engage in regular supervision.
Applicants selected for this position will be required to cover the cost of an enhanced DBS check.
Hourly Compensation: £12.00
