Job Title: Court of Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Court of Protection Specialist to join our award-winning private client team at Forbes Solicitors. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional legal services to our clients and contributing to the growth and development of our department.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Court of Protection Specialist to join our private client team. You will be responsible for handling a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications, managing property and affairs files, and providing expert advice to clients.

You will also be expected to actively engage and contribute to the development and implementation of the departmental strategic plan to drive business growth. This will involve building and maintaining positive relationships with current and prospective clients, referrers, and stakeholders, and enhancing the firm's profile.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handling a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications and managing property and affairs files.
  • Providing expert advice to clients on Court of Protection matters.
  • Actively engaging and contributing to the development and implementation of the departmental strategic plan to drive business growth.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with current and prospective clients, referrers, and stakeholders.
  • Enhancing the firm's profile through business development activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent) with minimum 4 years PQE in a specialist Court of Protection department/team.
  • Previous Court of Protection experience and expert knowledge of the sector.
  • Experience of handling large projects and business development activities.
  • Strong business development skills to expand the team.
  • Good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity.
  • Strong presentation and client handling skills and be commercially astute.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems, including Word, Outlook, and case management systems.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A high level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • The ability to supervise, manage, develop, motivate, and inspire others effectively.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team and be reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
