Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Court of Protection Specialist to join our award-winning private client team at Forbes Solicitors. As an Associate/Senior Associate, you will play a key role in developing and shaping the future of our Court of Protection services, building a strong and profitable client base, and delivering successful outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow and handle a varied case load of Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications, managing property and affairs files, and those related to personal injury and clinical negligence litigation settlements.
- Actively engage and contribute to the development and implementation of the departmental strategic plan to drive business growth.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with current and prospective clients, referrers, and stakeholders, enhancing the firm's profile.
- Contribute to business development, including presentations, training events, articles, and submissions to Chambers & Legal 500.
- Support the Head of Department, Partners, and other advisors on their own cases, and the delivery of the departmental strategy and business objectives.
- Manage, supervise, train, coach, and mentor Solicitors and Paralegals to facilitate the achievement of their business objectives and professional development goals.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external business requirements, including ISO:9001 quality control, SRA Principles/Code of Conduct, and Court & Tribunal deadlines.
- Monitor and report on own financial and business performance, and of colleagues under the Partners' management/supervision responsibilities, to deliver work in a profitable manner.
- Contribute towards internal continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
- Inter-departmental support and collaboration on joint files, projects, and events.

Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent) with minimum 4 years PQE in a specialist Court of Protection department/team.
- Previous Court of Protection experience and expert knowledge of the sector is essential.
- Experience of handling large projects and business development activities.
- Strong business development skills to expand the team.
- Good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity.
- Strong presentation and client handling skills and be commercially astute.
- Good knowledge of IT systems, including Word, Outlook, and case management systems.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A high level of professionalism and ethical standards.
- The ability to supervise, manage, develop, motivate, and inspire others effectively.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team and be reliable and enthusiastic.
