About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Consultant in Frailty and Geriatrics to join our team at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients, in accordance with the National Service Framework for Frailty and Geriatric Medicine and relevant NICE guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Frailty Assessment unit and work closely with our emergency department team to provide high-quality care to patients.
  • Develop and implement robust pathways for Frailty and Emergency Department care, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to improve patient safety, quality, and experience.
  • Contribute to the development of our Acute Physician-led AMU model and implement changes to HCOOP referral criteria to prioritize Frailty assessment.
Requirements
  • Experience in Frailty and Emergency Department pathways, with a strong understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance.
  • Full GMC Registration and Specialist Registration or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • Higher Degree (MD/PhD or equivalent) in Geriatric Medicine desirable.
  • Experience in audit, service improvement, and clinical governance.
  • Ability to travel effectively between sites and adhere to GMC code of conduct and Trust Values.
