About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Specialist to join our team at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to older patients in Ashford, Canterbury, and Thanet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Frailty Assessment unit and work closely with our emergency department team to ensure seamless care pathways for patients.
  • Develop and implement an Acute Physician led AMU model, working in partnership with specialty in reach rotas to improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to further implement an Acute Frailty service, moving away from age-related services and towards a more holistic approach.
  • Contribute to the development of our hospital's clinical governance and service improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Experience in Frailty and Emergency Department pathways, with a strong understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance.
  • Full GMC Registration and Specialist Registration or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
  • Higher Degree in Geriatric Medicine (desirable).
  • Excellent clinical governance and service improvement skills, with experience in audit and service development.
